Integration Commissioner Madki Alonto was directed by the President of the Philippines to organize the sultans, datus, and panglimas into a strong civic organization which will work intensively for the collection of loose firearms in relation to maintaining the peace and order situation in the area. Defense Secretary Jesus Vargas was also directed by the President to intensify further the work of the Armed Forces in the maintenance of peace and order.
In this connection, the President said that the Sulu task force which he had recently created, headed by Col. Flaviano Olivares, would contribute its share in the maintenance of peace and order by minimizing smuggling.
