President Ramos says the government has agreed to reposition soldiers in disputed areas in the south to prevent hostilities between the military and the MILF amid ongoing talks. Meetings on April 22-23 resulted in the two sides reaffirming a February agreement and continuing confidence-building measures. The next meeting on May 25 will discuss official recognition of the MILF’s 13 main camps and an agenda for formal peace talks (Deutsche Presse-Agentur, 04/30/98).
