Following two days of talks, the government and the MILF sign an agreement aimed at preventing future hostilities. Under the deal, the government will withdraw from hot spots near MILF camps. This is expected to help set the stage for formal peace negotiations. The two sides will meet again in late February (Deutsche Presse-Agentur, 02/06/98).
